How do I explain LGBTQIA+ to my child if I don't fully understand

it myself?

My teen seems upset all the time, should I be worried about suicidal thoughts?

Ack! I need to have "the talk"! How much information do I give them? What if I give them too much? Or not enough??

Sexpert Parenting is a sex education, resource and coach provider, created for parents - of toddlers to teens - with the tools, support and confidence they need to talk with their children about tough topics such as sexuality, gender identities, mental health and more.

My goal is to empower parents in creating a shift toward safe and shame-free environments, where they may help their children understand their bodies as they grow, engage in open and honest dialogues, and provide them with the necessary tools to make informed decisions and embrace their true identities.

The foundation of Sexpert Parenting is firmly rooted in the belief that the best way to protect our children is not by sheltering them - but by educating them, empowering them and providing them with safe environments of unconditional acceptance.

DID YOU KNOW:

LGBTQIA+ youth are 40% more likely to seriously consider suicide than their straight, cisgender peers?

DID YOU KNOW:

Sexual predators are more likely to target a child who doesn't know the proper names for their body parts?

DID YOU KNOW:

Teens who are less educated in sex and sexuality are likely to be sexually active sooner than their sex-ed savvy peers?

How they feel vs. what we see

DID YOU KNOW:

Higher qualities of sex education are linked to lower rates of sexual assaults, teen pregnancies and abortions?

Among developed countries, the Netherlands ranks the highest in quality sex education and the USA ranks the lowest. Meanwhile, the Netherlands has the lowest rates of sexual assault, teen pregnancies, and abortion, while the USA's rates rank the highest.

I know.  I've been there.

And it's why I'm here.

  • I'm a sexual assault survivor who's self worth has been dependent on others

  • I've struggled with chronic depression and anxiety

  • I know how it feels when the pain of being  alive overwhelms the will to stay  alive

  • I'm sick and tired of watching my LGBTQIA+ friends and family members struggle through life

  • I refuse to sit back and allow my children feel shame about their bodies, desires or sexuality

  • I'm just a parent who wants better for my kids; for all kids

I believe the solution is simple:

Let’s educate our kids.

Let’s break the stigmas.

Let’s provide homes of unconditional acceptance.

Let’s be good humans and

Let's guide society in making a profound shift happen.

I understand that as parents, we often feel overwhelmed and underprepared for many of the roles we take on. Ultimately, we’re expected to keep our little humans physically and mentally safe, happy and healthy - and whether we like it or not, sexuality impacts each of these needs.

I’m Alisha. I’m a straight, cisgender female and sex educator.

I provide straightforward sex education for parents of toddlers, teens and in-betweens. I focus on both mental and physical health while providing insight on a variety of content ranging from safety, sexual predators, puberty, LGBTQIA+, consent, porn exposure, birth control and all the nooks and crannies throughout.

I’ve been studying sex education for years in order to gain a deeper understanding and stay up-to-date on the latest and most relevant information. I have devoted hundreds of hours to attending seminars, courses and training and have poured myself into countless books, studies and research. I’m passionate about sharing my knowledge and supplying reliable resources to others.

I believe the best way to protect our children is not by sheltering them, but by educating them, accepting them and empowering them.

I'm passionate about breaking mental health stigmas and providing awareness for suicide prevention programs.

I support movements such as Me Too, Black Lives Matter and Women's Rights and am an advocate for the LGBTQIA+ community.
